This is
about Bill Ward's attempt in the summer of 2011 .. It's a labour of
love on his part to raise funds for Mencap after the premature and
unexpected death of Schedule Generic pix of the challenge ahead
This year will be slightly different as Wendy will be driving support to one of her friends from uni and colleagues, Bill Ward .. he is also a qualified NSI as well as holding his Mountain Leaders' badge. Bill will have a couple of his old school chums cycling and climbing with him in Tom and Simon and Amy, his girlfriend, will also be in the support vehicle with Wendy. En route will be three diversions to Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon .. this is a link to the Three Peaks Challenge which Bill and the gang are incorporating into their attempt. http://www.thethreepeakschallenge.com/Walking-Routes.php. To support them, please click here .. Given that the Three Peaks are involved, the route will be different to the one of 2008 .. after Ben Nevis, when we get to Crainlarich instead of turning right by the station and going down the wonderful decent to Tarbet and Loch Lomond with the Trossach National Park on our left, we are going to turn left towards Stirling with the Trossachs on the right instead, staying overnight in Callander. As Bill gives me more information, his story will appear here as it unfolds .. If you feel like joining them on their climb of the Three Peaks, get in touch., at this point in time, the trip with mileage and destinations for each is listed below .. all support in whatever shape or form, is always welcome. There is nothing like a healthy dose of moral support .. as Janie and I headed through Newquay on our way 3 years ago, hearing the car horns etc. was such a boost so if you see us, talk to us, spend time with us, join us on the climbs even .. and as we were heading towards the finish line in Lands End, having friends at the side of the road cheering us on was just brilliant. OK, this is Plan A assuming all things remain equal., Any offers of accommodation or any other forthcoming offers of help and/or support would be appreciated:
Like the Sea to Sea (C2C), get 6x stamps on your way down from the local Youth Hostel, B&B, petrol station etc. and you can become a member of the E2E Club and get your bottle green polo shirt or fleece. However if bottle green isn't your colour or you don't want to join the club per se, you can get alternative merchandise via http://www.endtoenders.co.uk/merchandise.php.
