About CTC Off Road Training Level 3

LEVEL THREE is for those who have successfully completed level two and are sufficiently confident to carry on to do their advance training which include more demanding technical issues to be able to cycle off road safely for example, tackling harder terrain, obstacles, emergency procedures, preparation for extreme riding and night riding, exact prices will be given on request

All sessions will include the 'M test Bike Check', braking skills, pedalling, gear changes and body positioning, the latter being very important, mainly because the gradients are more extreme bearing in mind that the basic principal of the body changes the weight distribution and therefore the pivot point of the ensemble changes.

Core Skills for Level 3 include:-

Body position for more grip
Body position for drop offs and bomb holes
Track stands
Steep ascents/descents in slippery conditions
Steep long ascents
Drop offs
Bunny hopping
Technical single track
Clothing
Bike fitting
More demanding trail repairs
Demanding map reading

As with Bikeability, in order to achieve Level 3 the students should be able to demonstrate the above consistently. However please remember that off road cycling tends to be more strenuous than on road cycling, the bikes being sturdier they are also heavier so maintaining a certain level of fitness is also paramount especially as they progress as training becomes more complicated and demanding.  Once Level 3 has been achieved it then comes down to experience ... or specialised coaching if you are aiming for personal goals of your own.

NB. For Individual 1:1 Tuition the methods used are tailor made to your individual needs although the same principles will apply vs. activities for a group to achieve the same objectives. Also we take as much or as little time as any one individual needs., there are no maximums as everyone is different.
