These are pix from Level 2 Bikeability courses going back to the pilot in September 2006. Level 2 is run on road - beginning in a relatively quiet location and progressing to somewhere that is quite busy at the end of the course, to ensure the children develop a healthy respect for other road users, which is all part of their being safe! Of course in the more remote areas, small villages and on Dartmoor, one has to compromise and teach the children how to deal with their surroundings as there are rarely the same type of junctions as one would find in towns. Occasionally though, the weather intervenes .. We still have fun though even if we are reduced to running a theory session and have also worked with adults being encouraged to cycle to work, who have no other means of getting from A to B. With the ToB 2011, there was also a case of where Bikeability meets professional road racing in Exeter, at the start of Stage 5.
