In July 2010, my son and I were part of a the group cycling from Brussels to London: 300 miles, 3 countries in 3 days in a group of 300 people .. It's not too late to donate - the link is http://www.justgiving.com/3countriesRTPchallenge. Next year my daughter wants to join us for the ride as well. Mark Cavendish, the British hopeful on the Tour, is a professional ambassador for it and I am a student ambassador. We had several thrills and spills and a few injuries as well but no pain, no gain - everyone came home safely though and has lived to tell the tail!
Amongst others riding with us, was the
Managing Director of
Wildoo, who
specialise in
sourcing and supplying custom branded products including bottles, cycle clothing
and loads of bike parts. They also supplied the
RTP Brussels to London ride bottles FoC as
sponsorship for the event and the official
RTP ride jerseys, which each cyclist was given.
This is their ethos .. "Right To Play's programmes around the world. We use
sport and play to provide basic education to 720,000 children in 23 countries
each week; to raise awareness of health issues such as HIV and malaria
prevention; to promote peace and tolerance; and to give children the life skills
and confidence necessary to make the most of their lives. Right To Play
has been a pioneer in innovation for social change and has a track record for
creating programmes that are both sustainable and replicable. Our programmes
incorporate a unique methodology that uses sport and play as tools for learning
in four development impact areas: 1. Basic Education and Child
Development: 2. Health Promotion and Disease Prevention: 3. Conflict Resolution
and Peace Building: 4. Community Development and Participation: Right To Play
programmes are guided by the principles of Inclusion and Sustainability.
